Ananda Murti

Ananda Murti

grew up near Copenhagen. She has been associated with the school since 1972 and has taught for 22 years in many places, among them Håå Course Centre and Århus. She had a school in the town of Ålborg for eight years. She is in great demand at the evening schools in Denmark, as she usually attracts full courses. In 1993 she started a school in Elsinore, from where she now teaches in North Zealand.

Gunnar

Gunnar Petersen

is Danish. He was a yoga teacher first at the school’s branch in Gothenberg in 1978, and afterwards in Oslo. Since 1983 he has been in charge of the school in Århus, where he collaborates with two of the city's largest evening schools. For many years he has been teaching yoga and meditation daily to a wide range of people, including college students and senior citizens. He is interested in regional history and geography. Gunnar has travelled and taught throughout all of Scandinavia, Greece and Czechoslovakia.

Bjarke

Bjarke

is Danish. After a 3-month Course in 1976 he joined the yoga teacher education with Swami Janakananda in search of combining an active, creative life with spiritual qualities. In 1983 he founded the school in Bergen, Norway. Bjarke has been teaching Classical Yoga for nearly 30 years, the last 20 years also the advanced tantric meditations, Antar Mauna and Ajapa Japa. His creativity has also been put into painting, computer graphics, desktop publishing, building traditional norwegian timberhouses etc. Bjarke lives together with Audhild and their son, Mikal, at Ask Course Center in Norway.

Mette

Mette Kierkgaard

was born and raised in Hong Kong. She has used yoga and meditation since 1972. From 1985 she has taught with the Scandinavian Yoga and Meditation School in Copenhagen, Oslo and Århus, and for five years she ran a branch of the school in Esbjerg with Bhawana Murti. Mette now lives in Copenhagen, where, besides teaching at the school, she also organises yoga courses for pregnant women in other towns and gives lectures on antenatal care.

Audhild Naustdal

is Norwegian and born in Førde. She is educated by Swami Janakananda and Bjarke and has taught yoga and meditation since 1988 with Yoga for pregnant women as her speciality. Audhild has a background as a pre-school teacher, but from 2001 she has been working full time as a yoga teacher. She is also responsible for the productions of Futon Yoga Mats for the yoga schools in Norway.

Hamsananda

Hamsananda

born in Denmark, has lived in Germany since 1988 and is the founder of the school in Hannover. After more than 25 years of teaching experience, there is hardly a situation he has not taught in, from prisons in Denmark and package holidays in Greece, to medical clinics in Germany.

Hamsananda often works in cooperation with doctors and researchers, investigating the effects of yoga and meditation. He also is a skilled craftsman; a large part of the building work at the branches of the school is planned and supervised by him.

Yoga Shakti

Yoga Shakti

is from Denmark, but she now lives in the school in Hannover that she leads together wih Hamsananda. During her philosophy studies at Copenhagen University, she participated in several yoga courses in Copenhagen and at Håå. This resulted in her deciding to explore life rather than to read about it.

Yoga Shakti started her yoga teacher training in 1989 and since then has taught at the schools in Århus, Copenhagen and Hannover. Her speciality is yoga for pregnant women. She has many years of experience with horses and has contributed to the training of the horses at Håå Course Center.

Erling

Erling Christiansen

grew up in Copenhagen. After a journey to India and South-East Asia, he participated in some residential courses at the Scandinavian Yoga and Meditation School. In the following years he continued his yoga practice whilst working as a chemical engineer.

Erling started his yoga teacher training after the 3-month course in 1993. Since then he has lived at the schools in Hannover and in Stockholm. Now he is living and teaching in Toulouse, France.

Lisbet Gelting

Lisbet Gelting

comes from Denmark where, in the 80’s, she studied psychology, architecture and art.
At the beginning of the 90’s, she trained to be an Alexander teacher and, in 2000, participated in the 3-month course at Håå Course Center.

After some years with the schools in Copenhagen and Stockholm, she now lives and teaches yoga and meditation in the school in Toulouse, France.

Jens Møller

Jens Møller

received his yoga teacher training in Stockholm and Copenhagen, and now has more than 20 years experience of yoga and meditation. The breathing exercises were especially important for his former occupation as a classical flute player. Also kirtan in its free, improvised form has opened up a new musical dimension.

Jens now lives in Esbjerg, and teaches in southern and western Jutland in Denmark.
