Yoga Poses - Asanas

The many yoga poses, asanas, have often been named after the animals, their way of stretching, and how they otherwise keep the body supple and fit.

Here, you see a pose which you may think is difficult - but with a little guidance, it is easy to perform. It is called ‘ The Clown’ and is a balancing pose in the system of yoga practices.

Each of the various yoga poses has its own effect on the body. There are easy exercises for beginners which help you to quickly reach a state of wellbeing, as well as deep-reaching poses for advanced practitioners.

Doing yoga on a regular basis gives the body a chance to break the habit of being sluggish and stiff. Glands, nervous system, heart and intestines are touched and kept flexible or restored and activated.

Unlike a cat which stretches instinctively, we learn to do it consciously. The resulting experience prompts us to continue to use yoga according to our needs and the way we live.
